Baird Holm
Founder’s Award
Baird Holm LLP's integrated team of 90 attorneys, licensed in 23 states represents public and private companies, individuals, private funds and other investors, financial institutions, governmental entities and nonprofit organizations. Baird Holm has enjoyed steady growth since its founding in 1873. Baird Holm has 42 attorneys listed in Best Lawyers in America© 2019. Since 2006, Baird Holm is the only Nebraska law firm to be listed in Band 1 (the highest tier) in the five main categories used by Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business, a peer-review survey. Baird Holm has 53 attorneys listed as Super Lawyers. Baird Holm has hosted 30 Labor Law Forums in Omaha.  It is the largest labor and employment seminar in the region. Attracting nearly 1,000 attendees, the Forum draws human resources professionals, business owners and executives, as well as in-house counsel. Baird Holm is committed to giving back to the Omaha community and supports many charitable organizations.  They were the original and sole sponsor of CREW Omaha Metro and continue to support the chapter today.

 

 

Jacqueline A. Pueppke 
First Presidents Award
Jacqueline A. Pueppke is a partner with Baird Holm, L.L.P.  Her practice focuses primarily on financing, real estate and construction, and commercial workouts. She represents lending institutions in structuring and documenting transactions for commercial real estate financing, asset-based financing and agricultural financing. She also represents clients in the acquisition, sale and development of real property, leasing, zoning and land use, and construction contracting. Jackie was named one of Ten Outstanding Young Omahans by the Omaha Jaycees in 2010, was the co-chair of the 2012 ICAN Women's Leadership Conference, and was a recipient of the Midlands Business Journal's 40 Under 40 Award in 2013. Jackie is a 2011 graduate of the Agricultural Lending Institute sponsored by the Ag Lenders Society of California and the University Business Center at the Craig School of Business at California State University, Fresno, and has been a faculty member for the Agricultural Lending Institute since 2012. Jackie regularly lectures on real estate, financing, and loan documentation issues. Since 2015, Jackie has been selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® in the field of Real Estate Law. Jackie was one of the first presidents of CREW Omaha Metro and one of the driving forces to start a CREW chapter in Omaha.  Jackie stepped in as chapter president the second half of 2009 and again in 2010.

 

 

Amy Blumenthal
First Presidents Award
Amy Blumenthal is Corporate Counsel for C&A Industries, Inc., a national leader in staffing and recruitment.   Amy has held various positions in the legal industry, including private practice, the title industry, and corporate counsel roles.  Amy assists C&A with a wide variety of business issues, and has substantial experience handling real estate, corporate, contract and litigation matters.  Amy is a 1996 graduate of the University Of Kansas School Of Law. Amy Blumenthal was the first president of CREW Omaha Metro and served the first half of 2009.  A career change took her in a new direction but she was a driving force to starting a CREW chapter in Omaha.

 

 

Chip James
CREW Catalyst Award
Chip James formed Lockwood Development in Omaha, Nebraska in 2002 as a full-service commercial real estate development company.  Lockwood’s core focus is the development of office buildings and retail centers primarily in the Midwest. Since its inception, Lockwood has grown to develop over 1,000,000 square feet of commercial properties in Nebraska, Arkansas, Kansas, and Colorado. In 2005, Lockwood Development formed Lockwood Construction, LLC to perform general contracting services, including building shells and tenant finish. In 2011, Bloomfield Custom Homes was created to meet the increasing demand of custom built quality homes for which Lockwood has become known. Chip is very passionate about the Omaha community. He is currently involved in many charitable and civic organizations in Omaha:

Philanthropy is a major part of Chip’s values. Giving back to the community in which he was born and raised has carried over into his career. When creating a new development, it is not always about the bottom line, it is about making sure the product he develops is creating value and is an added benefit to the City of Omaha.

Lockwood Development was and early sponsor of CREW Omaha Metro and continues to support the organization’s efforts through sponsorship and Lutheran Family Service philanthropic efforts.  CREW appreciates the support and dedicated members Lockwood has provided over the years and recognizes Chip James and Lockwood Development with the CREW Catalyst Award.

 

 

Jerry Slusky
I’m With Her Award
Mr. Slusky is a partner in Smith Slusky Law, L.L.P.  He serves local and regional clients in real estate, corporate and related business matters. He is a member of the Omaha, Nebraska, Iowa and Florida Bar Associations and is known for his expertise in real estate planning, zoning, development, financing and leasing. Mr. Slusky was recognized by Chambers & Partners’ legal publication, “America’s Leading Business Lawyers Client Guide,” for his extensive experience in real estate including zoning, municipal law and finance matters, tax appeals and tax-deferred transactions. He was voted among the best lawyers in the United States by Best Lawyers in America, 2003-2016 directory, and has been recognized by Omaha Magazine as “One of Omaha’s Best Real Estate Attorneys.” Mr. Slusky is also the Founder and Chairman of the Commercial Real Estate Summit, a highly anticipated annual conference event for commercial real estate industry professionals.  2018 will be The CRE Summit’s 30th consecutive year and expected attendance of over 1,000 professionals from Nebraska and Iowa. Mr. Slusky is being recognized for being a “good sport” when CREW Network asked that he no longer use the CREW acronym for his Commercial Real Estate Workshop.  Thus, The CRE Summit was born.
